Learn to row

If you've already got some experience and are a competent rower, you can jump over to https://www.nubc.com.au/registration/ and signup as a club member. Once the relevant fees have been paid, one of our club members will be in touch to organise a time to show you around, induct you to the sheds and familiarise you with where we row.

Learn to Row

Towards the start of each semester we run a learn to row program which covers the basics of sculling (in this case, that's a fancy way of saying rowing with two oars). Due to the universities insurance regulations, you must be a current student or staff member to participate in the program. Check out our neighbouring club, Endeavour, if you're not currently at university - they have a similar program for those looking to learn.

What you'll need:

  • Socks (that may get a little damp)
  • Joggers and a hat
  • You should wear activewear that can get wet and isn't too loose
  • A water bottle and a snack or two if you get hungry in the mornings
  • Although capsizes are rare, It's advisable to bring a spare jumper/top and towel just in case.

Where we row:

Big bold address so you know where to go:

273 Duckenfield Road, Berry Park, NSW, 2322

We're the 3rd building along the lane, on the left-hand side of the property as you drive in.

How to get there:

There really is only one main option for getting to the sheds which is driving. So if that isn't an option for you, find a friend who does drive and bring them along.

Other transportation methods include cycling, running or magic carpet although it's pretty early in the morning and the difficulty varies so hats off to you if you manage it.

When do we train:

The shed is open every morning and some afternoons during summer which allows you to train and much or as little as you like.

Forming crews is one of the first things we do each session so please do your best to be on time! Like most university group work, if you're late then you may not get a good group. Rowing is a great way to meet people and make great friends so if you get along with someone during the learn to row, why not make a plan to train together.

Hopefully that'll cover everything although if you've got any questions you can either drop an email to secretary@nubc.com.au or shoot us a message on Facebook.

How do I sign up?

If we have a program about to start you will find it in the events tab, if not, shoot us an email.
